The residence was built on the ruins of a fortified castle destroyed during the Hundred Years’ War. Different owners succeeded one another until 1986, when the Laporte family, originally from the neighboring appellation, Montagne Saint-Emilion, bought the entire property from a Dutch group. Bruno Laporte, second generation is now running the show. This estate is set east of the town of Saint-Emilion, and the vines grow in a soil primarily based on gravel, clay, limestone and marl over an area of 20 hectares. Farming is sustainable with organic products; hand harvested grapes and classic vinification produces a very well-structured wine.
